Padayemista

  • 1 lb. butter
  • 1 lb. walnuts finely chopped
  • 1 cup whole milk 1/2 cup sugar
  • 5 – 6 cups flour
  • 1 T cinnamon

Melt butter, add milk and mix well. Add flour a cup at a time. Mix well until dough is easy to work with. Mix walnuts, sugar and cinnamon together. Take 1″ pieces of dough and using hand pat until round and flat. Add 1 tsp. mixture in middle of dough. Wrap folding ends under. Place cookies seam side down onto baking sheet.

Bake at 350 for 25- 30 minutes or until golden brown. Cool. Can be stored in airtight container in refrigerator or frozen for several months.

To serve dip each cookie into honey

Warm honey in medium saucepan, add a small amount of water. Heat honey until comes to a boil. Remove from heat. Dip each cookie in warmed honey and let sit for several minutes. Remove from honey. Place onto platter or plate. Top with chopped nuts.
