- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 5 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup sego milk
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 2 cups coconut
Mix sugar and butter together until well blended. Beat egg whites together and then egg yolks together. Add both to sugar mixture. Mix in flour, baking powder mixing well, add sego milk and coconut.
Bake in oblong cake pan at 350 for 35-40 minutes. Pour syrup over cake while warm. Let cool completely before serving.
Syrup for Coconut Cake
- 1 1/2 cups of water
- 1 1/2 cups of sugar
- Lemon peel
Mix ingredient together and bring to boil Continue cooking until mixture thickens.
Pour over warm cake.
